Unlimited texting includes instant messaging?

I have T-Mobile.
My mom signed up for unlimited texting.
Since I have unlimited text messaging, does that also count for unlimited instant messaging?

EX:
Signing on AIM from my phone (mobile AIM), will I get charged/will my mom have to pay for me signing on AIM or any other instant messaging service?

    If you have unlimited to people outside of Tmobile, then you won’t have to pay extra. but if you only have unlimited for Tmobile users, then you will.
