May 15 2007
TYPE: Tutorial, DVD
URL: http://www.teracomtraining.com/teracom-overview-v6.htm

Understanding Wireless 1 begins with basic radio concepts,
understanding “analog radio” and “digital radio”, then covers
fundamentals of mobile communication networks: base stations,
cells, handoffs and mobility.

With this in place, we go through the first and second
generation technologies: AMPS, TDMA, GSM and CDMA, and
understand how each works, their strengths and weaknesses
and how they relate to each other.

In Part 3, we concentrate on data over cellular and 3G,
and cover the differences between GPRS, Wideband CDMA or
UMTS, cdma2000, 1X, 3X and 1XEV-DO. We review expected throughput
in bits/second and which carriers are supporting which technologies.
We conclude with applications such as i-mode, SMS, wireless email,
web surfing, WAP and XML.

This video provides you with a real understanding of how a
cellular network operates, the main technologies, the opposing
camps championing different systems, and wireless applications.

Wow Mobile has entered into the mobile cell phone industry with very big foot print…
Over the years there have been so many, Nextel, Alltel, Cellular One,
Only 4 Major cell phone companies still exist.
AT&T – Sprint – T-Mobile – Verizon
That is until now!
Do you remember planning your vacation a few years ago?
Cancun, Disney, Las Vegas…
If you needed a flight you had to go to a Travel Agency in the Mall or an Agent on some street corner. Right?
Delta – United – American Airlines – Continental
If you need a cell phone or service, you go to the Mall or an Agent on some street corner. Hmmm… Sound familiar? That’s right, they’ve been de-regulated.
AT&T – Sprint – T-Mobile – Verizon
Talk about a monopoly. These guys make about 90 million dollars a month just collecting the $15 to $30 dollar reconnect fees from people who just cant afford these ridicules monthly phone bills
Resellers such as Orbitz, and Expedia created contracts with the giant airline companies and are now Orbitz, and Expedia are used by everyone to save money!
Wow Mobile is a new mobile phone service reseller.

Man vs. Machine

Posted by admin on April 16th, 2010 and filed under mobile texting | 25 Comments »

November 2006 (Medialink) — It was a head to head or a “thumb to thumb” match in a classic competition of man vs. machine. The Amazing Race placed the 3-key and T-9 typists, including the world champion of text messaging, against new technology from Nuance Communictaions that allows mobile device users to dictate messages.

Ben Cook, recently crowned the world champion of text messaging, recently raced against Nuance Mobile Dictation, the speech recognition technology that allows mobile phone users to enter messages using speech. Cook, a teen from Utah, holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest entry of a 160-character standardized message on a mobile device. The Nuance Amazing Race featured the same text Cook used to win the championship, as well as common text messages that users would send in day-to-day conversations.

Cook’s previous triple tap record for the standard message stood at 42.22 seconds. Nuance Mobile Dictation crushed the world record time, completing the message in 16.32 seconds.

The complete Amazing Race competition featured four participants: Ben Cook using triple tap input; a competitor using T9 input; a typist using a Blackberry device with a full QWERTY keyboard; and Nuance’s own staff member demonstrating Nuance Mobile Dictation. Contestants were scored based on the time required to complete the entry of the exact text messages, including appropriate spelling, punctuation and capitalization. In addition to the world record message, the contestants raced using messages average texters would send today. The contestants using the Blackberry and T9 devices came in a distant third and fourth at 30 seconds and 58 seconds.
