What is the difference between sms and texting?

i feel really stupid, but I want to know if sms is included in a texting plan for phones…
are they the same thing?

SMS is a text message with only words
the other type of message is a multimedia message which includes sending ringtones & pictures

so yes sms is just a regular text message and they are the same thing

    sms is the tech term for texing. There is no diff.
