Unless your plan is several years old, "messaging" includes text messages, picture mail, and video mail. This means someone with unlimited messaging can indeed send free picture mail.

SMS stands for Short Message Service and MMS stands for Multimedia Messaging Service. In a nutshell, a SMS message is a text message and a MMS message is picture or video message.
Of course, you can send a text message as a MMS but it may cost more if you’re paying for each message.
